Golf & Give Charity Tournament; August 8th, 2024
REALTORS® are some of the most active members of their communities. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, REALTORS® have increased their philanthropic and volunteer efforts. According to a new report from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), 80% of general members reported that involvement in their community is an important part of their business plan, and 82% report it is important to them personally. REALTOR® members value deep involvement in local neighborhoods, towns, and cities. Such involvement helps real estate professionals position themselves in the sight of the community as people who understand and care about their local area.
The local Snohomish County-Camano Association of REALTORS® (SCCAR) is no exception to the increase of charitable donations and involvement. The local association, comprised of nearly 1,500 REALTORS®, hosts multiple charitable events throughout the year. One of their biggest events is their annual charity golf tournament, Golf & Give. The second Thursday of every August since 2018, SCCAR hosts this 18-hole scramble event to raise money for the REALTORS® Care Charitable Fund.
“Our fund is for the individuals and families who are ready to move into permanent housing but are struggling to reach that goal. SCCAR is proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity to this end,” said Gina Akins, 2024 President of SCCAR.
The REALTORS® Care Charitable Fund, originally established in 1991, donates money in efforts to assist families and individuals in temporary shelters move into a permanent housing arrangement. This fund, which is the only one of its kind in Snohomish County, has been used by thousands of families and individuals over the past 30 years and is needed more than ever in the current economy.
The REALTORS® Care Charitable Fund benefits the community by contributing to one of SCCAR’s local partners. This year’s partner is Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County.
“Every year, we hope to raise over $20,000 for these wonderful organizations,” Akins said. “Our annual charity event helps sustain the fund and continues our goal to assist those making a positive effort to achieve self-sustained housing a reality.”
In recent years, our area has seen rising housing prices and unprecedented homelessness. 100% of the proceeds from SCCAR’s Golf & Give Charity Golf Tournament goes towards helping transition people from temporary housing into permanent housing right here in Snohomish County.
Thanks to REALTORS®, industry partners, and the community members who came out to support the REALTORS® Care Charitable Fund, SCCAR is able to raise money and maintain charitable giving year after year. Beyond the golf tournament, SCCAR is looking forward to hosting the annual park clean-up in Everett on September 5th and the annual food drive throughout the month of October.
